These paintings are reflections on the English landscape and, in particular, the woods and fields, meadows and rivers around Oxford where I live. They strive to express something of the essence of the natural world we experience and create about us and of our feelings and responses to it.
The works are predominantly oils on paper, a surprisingly under-explored medium that combines the strength and intensity of oil paints with the luminosity of watercolours and glazes where the paper or ground provides intrinsic illumination.
All works are mounted, and the sizes shown relate to the actual image size. The larger paintings are framed in handmade frames with an approx 12cm wide section and white border strip. The plain-mounted works can be framed if desired.
